Mr. Donald Laverne “Don” Harrison passed away with his loving family by his side on November 1, 2024 at the age of 70 years. Don was born at Red Deer, Alberta on November 14, 1953 to parents Dorothy and Warren Harrison. Don loved the outdoors and spent a lifetime (thirty-five years) working as a Forest Officer to reach his goal of Assistant Deputy Minister. He always said he was protecting the forest so his grandchildren and their children would be able to enjoy it as much as he did.
Family gave Don stability, and he cherished every moment spent with his loved ones.
He leaves behind is devoted spouse, Colleen who supported him for thirty-eight years through many moves and new adventures. When Don retired, the adventures had just begun, he trained firefighters in Mexico, drove a mining bus in Hinton, was director of Timber works in N.W.T., Managed the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #104, drove school bus, and his last task was working for the people of Innisfail as he was elected to Innisfail Town Council, and served on numerous committees. He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Richard (Cherri), Laural (Curt), his son Shawn, his daughter, Camille and his grandchildren, Paiden, Jordyn, Ethan, Olivia, his sister, Linda (Brian) Taylor, his brothers, Les (Maryann) Harrison, and Bob Harrison, as well as nieces, nephews and many extended family and wonderful friends. Don was predeceased by is parents and his brother Ken. Don will be greatly missed, but forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Special thank you to the staff at the Innisfail Health Care Centre, Red Deer Regional Hospital, as well Central Alberta Cancer Centre and the Foothills Medical Centre, Calgary, Alberta for the wonderful care given to Don.
