Mr. David Roderick McLeod was born on December 25, 1953 in Edmonton, Alberta to Roderick and Betty McLeod. He went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 surrounded by his loving family. David’s love of the Lord allowed him to understand how blessed he was to have such a meaningful relationship with each of his children and grandchildren. He is known to many for his kind, positive and gentle demeanour and his ability to see the best in everyone. David spent many years being involved with Innisfail Minor Hockey serving on the board, managing one or two teams at a time and watching his children play hockey. Over the years, he was involved in the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship and the Parkland Community Church Board. The laughter of children brought joy to David’s heart so it was not unusual for him to be watching, from the front window, the children playing in the park across the street. He also loved watching the deer prancing through the park. David loved being with his family, whether it was going on vacation to Penticton or Kimberley or just having a meal with them individually or as a group. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren in all their activities especially playing hockey at the rink. David spent most days walking, at first outside enjoying the earth that God gave us and in the last few years inside reflecting on his life and his family. He walked over 17000 steps each day and was very proud of this accomplishment. David is predeceased by his parents Roderick and Betty McLeod, his sisters Jo-Ann and Helen, his parents-in-law Peter and Aida Gruber and his nephew Scott McLeod. He is survived by his wife Christel and his children Christina Deminchuk, Matthew (Kristina) McLeod, Joshua (Kristen) McLeod, Jonathan (Kayla) McLeod, Sarah (Kevin) Presiloski, his son-in-law Kevin Deminchuk, and grandchildren Madison, Roderick, Theodore, Emma, and Charlotte. He is also survived by his sister Jean (Andre) Drouin and brothers Ray (Euphemia) McLeod and Rick (April) McLeod, brother-in-law Peter (Lorie) Gruber and very dear friends, Jim and Karen Urban, as well as many nieces and nephews. Family and friends were very important to David and he would like everyone to remember to make sure you hug your family often and tell them how much you love them. A Celebration of David’s life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #104, Innisfail, Alberta on Monday, January 24, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. For those unable to attend, please check back on David’s Page for the Zoom Link to watch the Service Proof of vaccination or a negative Covid Test is required.
