ROBERTSON, Nancy
1952 – 2026
Nancy Lynn Robertson (nee Hampson) passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, April 13, 2026 at the age of 73 years. Nancy was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on July 6, 1952, to Muriel and George (Harry) Hampson. She spent her childhood in the small towns of Starbuck and Erickson, Manitoba, attending the one-room Lund School for grades 1–4, then junior high and high school in Erickson. After graduation, Nancy moved to Thompson, Manitoba, where she lived with her sister Sharon and worked as a cashier at Canada Safeway. There she met the love of her life, Dave, and they married in 1971.
Nancy and Dave’s life together took them to Surrey, British Columbia in 1972, then throughout the Kootenays and interior British Columbia, before settling in Mission in 1986. They made Mission their home for twenty eight years before retiring to Red Deer in 2015.
Nancy’s greatest joy was supporting her family. She spent countless hours at hockey arenas cheering on her sons and grandsons, volunteering with minor hockey and referees, and working the concessions. She was equally devoted to attending her children’s and grandchildren’s various other sporting activities such as baseball, soccer, and dance.
Beyond the rink, Nancy was passionate about gardening, landscaping, home renovation, collecting antiques and willow tree figurines, refinishing furniture, scrapbooking, and hosting garage sales. She cherished time spent playing cards with loved ones, enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping, fishing, and attending country music concerts. Nancy loved entertaining family and friends and baking for her sons and grandchildren. Remarkably, she overcame her fear of water to experience fishing at Lesser Slave Lake, Alberta and salmon fishing at Babine Lake, British Columbia.
Nancy was a woman of extraordinary strength and love to all who knew her. In recent years, she faced significant health challenges—including hip replacements, back issues, and cancer—meeting each with unwavering determination and grace.
Nancy will be deeply missed by her husband David; her sons Kevin Robertson (with Lisa, Lynden, and Tanner) of Red Deer and Michael Robertson (with Kristi, Dhylan, Dawson, Dezmond, and Reese) of Mission, BC; her sister Ruth Atherton (with Paul, Sarah, and Katherine) of Smithers, BC; and her brother Ross Hampson (with Melanie, Corey, and Jeffrey) of Gimli, BC as well as numerous extended family and dear friends. She was predeceased by her parents Muriel and George Henry Hampson; her in-laws William and Irene Robertson; and her beloved sister Sharon and brother-in-law Chuck McCormick. A Memorial Service was held on Saturday, April 18, 2026 at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287-67A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer, Alberta at 11:00 a.m. A Public Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time.
