Mrs. Judith Lynn Nelson of Red Deer, Alberta passed away at the Red Deer Hospice on Saturday, June 8, 2024, after losing her battle with cancer at the age of 72 years. Judith was born on March 2, 1952, in Red Deer, Alberta to Norman Jahelka and Verna Poff, and raised in Red Deer.
Judith’s career began as a draftsperson for AGT and later transitioned to a copywriter and typist for the Red Deer Advocate. She excelled at typing and was later employed by Aviation Publications as a publisher and bookmaker, where she applied her skills. Her career was marked by her commitment to excellence and her positive impact on her colleagues and the community.
In her free time, Judith enjoyed crafting, scrapbooking, and card making. These hobbies brought joy to her and those around her, showcasing her creativity and attention to detail. Judith also had a deep love for dogs and always owned dogs throughout her life.
Judith loved hosting family meals, BBQs, and holiday get-togethers, creating cherished memories with her loved ones. She was known for her warm smile and caring nature, which touched the lives of everyone she met.
Judith’s life was marked by her warmth, kindness, and dedication to her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Judith will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Lloyd (Red) Nelson, her two sons, Reg and Chris Cooper, her two stepchildren, Kari Mertz and Clayton Nelson, and her sister, Jill Eastcott. Judith was a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren: Christopher, Rainey, Owen, Nolan, Joey, Christian, Finn, and Caleb. She was predeceased by her parents, Norman Jahelka and Verna Poff.
