Mrs. Dorothy Fetch was born on January 12, 1952 to Chester and Thelma Miller at Eckville Hospital. She spent her early years, the oldest of seven children, on the family farm at the corner of Highway 11 and Leslieville highway, and later two miles south of Leslieville on Horseguard Creek She was always up for a bit of fun or play in the dirt. She attended school at Leslieville, and later, David Thompson, graduating in 1970. Upon graduating, Dorothy became employed at Deerhome in Red Deer. In 1971, she married Robert Fetch and moved to his family farm southwest of Dickson. Together, they had two children, Albert Calvin in November of 1973, and Roberta Lynn in September of 1980. Over the years, Dorothy had many jobs. These included cooking at O’Grady’s, J- Bar-T, and Tivoli Garden Cafe, as well as cashier at the local Co-op. No matter where you saw her, you could always count on her to have a witty comeback. She otherwise could be found helping Bob on the farm, taking care of one of her many beloved plants, reading a book, or doing needlework. She was skilled at knitting, tatting, and crochet.
In her later years, she donated toques for sale at Christmas to Tivoli Garden Cafe, with all the proceeds going to the local Food Bank.
Dorothy passed away suddenly on December 26, 2025 at Foothills Medical Centre, Calgary, Alberta, surrounded by her loving family and a friend. She is lovingly remembered by husband, Robert Fetch; children, Albert and Roberta Fetch; with grandchildren, Emma and Maya Durbak; as well as sisters, Mary Arseneau, Anne Miller, Olive McRae (with husband, Calvin McRae), and Phyllis Wolf (with husband, Melvin Wolf) and sisters-in-law, Norma Alcock and Arlene Hillman; and numerous nieces and nephews .She is predeceased by her father, Chester Miller, mother, Thelma Miller, and brothers, Bill and Fred Miller.
