1952~ In Loving Memory of Mr. James ‘Jim’ Bryant ~ 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. James ‘Jim’ Bryant, after a brief illness, at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at the age of 68 years. Jim was the youngest son of six children, born to Floyd Bryant and Betty Deck. In 1971, Jim married Mary Klassen and together they welcomed two children, Patricia and Chris. In 1981, Jim married his second wife, Linda Hayes and together they raised the kids. They spent the next forty years loving, laughing, travelling and playing with their puppies. In his younger years, Jim worked as a TV Technician for Rhodes TV in Eckville. He then found work at Sears in their Parts and Service Department; where he worked for well over twenty years. It was an ideal job for Jim; as he could spend plenty of time with his family and still make time for golfing. His last years before retirement were spent working at KoHen Electronics Supply, as a salesperson. Even after retirement, Jim kept busy helping out KoHen by taking projects home to repair. It was his way to keep in touch with friends and keep busy…but not so busy as to interfere with his beloved golf game. Jim was a serious competitor and over the years enjoyed bowling, darts, racket ball and playing poker. His favorite pastime though was golfing. Jim LOVED to golf. His love of golf was second only to his love of family. He spent many years perfecting his game at the Balmoral Golf Course. He’d meet his golfing buddies daily and play eighteen holes if he could. This brought him much joy. Jim was a family man, and together with Linda, they enjoyed spending time with their kids and grandkids. He loved visiting with his siblings and their spouses; they would play poker and share meals, but most importantly they would laugh. Anyone who knew Jim knew his laugh. It could fill a room. It was heartfelt. It was contagious. It was quintessentially Jim. A hug from Jim was often accompanied by a quiet whisper in your ear “love you kiddo”. He had a wicked sense of humor, a quick smile, a deep voice and a gentle soul. He will forever be loved and forever missed. Jim will be lovingly remembered by his loving wife of nearly forty years, Linda, his daughter, Patricia (Bert) Bergey of Red Deer, his son, Chris (Rachelle) Bryant of Blackfalds and his five grandchildren, Jimmy Bryant, Christopher Bryant, Matthew Bryant, Stephanie Bergey and Jasper Bergey. He will also be sadly missed by his sisters, Debbie Pickering (Tony Winterhalt), Tammy Bryant (Margo Worksby) and Anna (John) Watson; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and an aunt. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Floyd Bryant and Dora Elizabeth (Betty) Deck, his brothers, Floyd ‘Herb’ Bryant and Albert ‘Ab’ Bryant, and his nephews, Clayton Bryant and Ivan Gomboc. The Bryant family would like to extend to the staff, nurses and doctors of the Red Deer Regional Hospital ICU a big thank you for their compassionate care of Jim. A Celebration of Jim’s Life will be held a later date. If desired, Memorial Donations in Jim’s honor may be made directly to a charity of the donor’s choice.
