WENTZELL, Denni
1952 – 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce that Blanche Dennette ‘Denni’ Wentzell of Joffre, Alberta passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, after a long but courageous battle with cancer, on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at the age of 72 years. Denni was born on October 4, 1952, in Grande Prairie, Alberta but made the Red Deer area her permanent home since 1994. Denni found great joy in everything she did, but her greatest joy was found working with Prime Stock Theatre, in Red Deer and Shake By The Lake Theatre Festival in Sylvan Lake. Over the years spent with the Theatre companies she made many lifelong friends. Denni will be lovingly remembered by her four children, Marjorie Wentzell, Shaun Wentzell, Tanya (Malcolm) Sokolik, and Jamie (Jennifer Pearson) Wentzell, her two grandchildren, Daylen Schneider and Chyenne Dessert, and her one great grandchild, Everhett Newhouse. She is also survived by her brother, George (Pat) Ellwood of Terrace, British Columbia, as well as her many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who became like family over the years. Denni was predeceased by her mother, Frances Rose Nagy of Red Deer, Alberta, and her siblings, Art Ellwood of Pouce Coupe, British Columbia, Ted Ellwood of Fort St. John, British Columbia, Jewel Peacock of Whitehorse, Northwest Territories and Fran Mills of Fort St. John, British Columbia. Denni’s family would like to offer their special thanks to the Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre and all who cared for her. We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Jennifer Pearson for the endless assistance with all the appointments and extra care she provided to our mom over the last year. Denni’s Funeral Service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 20 Kovac Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Saturday, May 10, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. The service will also be available via Zoom: Meeting ID: 891 9213 5084 Passcode: 562830.
