Mr. John Francis MacLellan passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at the age of 73 years. John was born and raised in Antigonish, Nova Scotia. He left home at the age of nineteen to start his career in the Canadian Armed Forces. After twenty-six years of proud service, John retired in Red Deer, where he started his second career as a driver at Lafarge. John was in his glory when he was operating any kind of heavy equipment, fishing or hunting. His sense of humor and outgoing personality earned him respect and admiration from colleagues and friends. John leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Colette, his daughters, Nicole (Mark) and Melissa (Calin) and his precious granddaughter, Eden. He will also be sadly missed by his siblings, Allan (Mildred), Bertha (Dave), Mary (Brian), Hughie, Diane, Marion (Carter), Karl, A.J. (Helen), Helen (Brian), Ronald (Wendy), Cameron and Allister (Sheri) and his sister in-law, Claire (Bob), as well as his many nieces, nephews and dear friends. John was predeceased by his parents, William and Muriel MacLellan, his parents-in-law, Omer and Virgina St. Croix, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Louis and Lucille St. Croix, his sister-in-law, and brother-in-law, Suzanne and Rosaire Dion, and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Irene and Jean Belanger. The family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Bethany CollegeSide for the exceptional care they provided John over the years. A Memorial Service was held at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer, Alberta on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. The Memorial Service will be live streamed for those unable to attend.
