Janusz Jerzy Pic, fondly known as Pic, passed away peacefully at the age of 73 in Sundre, Alberta, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born on March 2, 1951, in Virden, Manitoba, to Jan and Stasha Pic, Pic spent his formative years on the family farm in Scarth, Manitoba. It was there, working alongside his beloved Uncle Albert, that he developed his lifelong love for the great outdoors. Hunting, fishing, and trapping weren’t just hobbies—they were a way of life that brought him joy, purpose, and countless adventures.

Pic was a man of many talents. As a pipeliner and business owner, his skills and curiosity led him down countless paths, from tinkering with rare tractors and classic cars to exploring the hidden corners of Canada in search of the perfect hunting spot. His journeys eventually brought him to Sundre, Alberta, a place he cherished deeply and called home in his later years.

He is survived by his daughter, Linda Jean, who was the light of his life, and an extended family of friends, each of whom he held close to his heart. To know Pic was to be welcomed into his circle, where you weren’t just a friend—you were family.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that any donations be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Ducks Unlimited Canada in honour of Pic’s generous spirit and love for nature.

Celebrations of Pic’s life will take place in Sundre, Alberta, and Virden, Manitoba, at dates to be announced.

Pic will be remembered for his warmth, his adventurous spirit, and his ability to turn ordinary moments into extraordinary memories. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
