Mr. Stanley M. Shymko of Innisfail, Alberta, passed away on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at the age of 73 years.
Stanley, fondly known as ‘Stan’ or ‘Stanley Automatic’, was born to Stephen and Margaret Shymko on February 28, 1950, at Invermere, British Columbia. He was a talented mechanic, gaining his apprenticeship and journeyman in an accelerated format within the Canadian prairies where he was known for his specialty work in transmissions and race car enhancing performance. Stan started his own business, ‘Stanley Automatic’ in 1984 and he retired in 2015 at the age of sixty-five.
Aside from his love for mechanics and carpentry, Stan was a compassionate individual that cared deeply about this family and pets. He was a habitual rescuer of anyone or any animal in need of help and would give the shirt off his back to assist. Stan lived a private modest lifestyle in his later years, but he had a huge impact on the small community he resided in, and he will be truly missed.
Stan will be lovingly remembered by his four children, April Shymko (Barb Nicholls), Daryl Schmalzbauer, Karen Schmalzbauer, and Steven Schmalzbauer (Shalen Crocker), six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He will also be deeply missed by his brother, David Shymko (Sharon Lowe), and his sister, Dianne Tritscher. Stan was predeceased by his parents, Stephen and Margaret, his youngest sister, Elizabeth Shymko and her partner, Rocky Morrisette.
