It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Patricia ‘Pat’ Karpan, a devoted wife, cherished mom, and gramma on Sunday, March 10, 2024 at the age of 73 years.
Pat was born on May 17, 1950 in Kindersley, Saskatchewan. She lived in a few different small towns in Saskatchewan but was raised predominantly in Coleville. Pat graduated high school in Kindersley and attended business college in Saskatoon. In 1973, Pat married Bill Clark of Zealandia, Saskatchewan. A few years later they made the move from Saskatchewan to Alberta, residing in Brooks. They divorced in 1992, but not before welcoming her beloved children, Tish and Wade.
In 1993 Pat met the love of her life, her Dennis, and with him, Pat welcomed into her heart Dennis’s girls, Jody, Cindy, and Marcia. Pat and Dennis moved to Innisfail, Alberta in 1994, planting new roots and making a beautiful home where family and friends loved to gather. They decided to finally tie the knot in June of 1999.
Shortly after moving to Innisfail, Pat started working at ‘RDTV’. She was only there a few short years but grew quite fond of the people she worked with, telling stories from time to time. Pat then worked part time at Canada Post, where she’d get up bright and early and sort mail. To fill her afternoons, Pat worked part time at the Royal Canadian Legion, Innisfail, Branch No. 104. Once retiring from the Post Office, Pat went all in at the Legion. Pat always supported and had a special connection to the Legion, going all the way back to her dad, Jim’s time there. It wasn’t just the Legion Pat loved; it was the people in it. From coworkers to bosses, to all the members and friends she met along the years, she always kept a big place in her heart for them. She dedicated twenty-two years at the Innisfail Branch as well as a stint at Brooks Branch No. 63.
Pat worked hard, but she loved harder. She enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends, laughing the night away. Her laughs were infectious, her hugs were warm and unforgettable. In her past time, she loved relaxing with her puppy or playing a card game with her family and friends. Dennis and Pat enjoyed camping and spent lots of time at their campsite around a fire. She also developed a liking for travel, even though she swore to us she never would. One of her absolute favourite things to do was listen to country music, she loved her music and always had it on in the background.
Pat will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered by her husband, Dennis, her children, Tish (Chris) Clark, Wade (Nicole) Clark, Jody (Brian) Ring, and Cindy Karpan, her grandchildren, Maria (Bryce), Kendra, Tristen (Emma), Madison, Brayden, Nicholas, Kittanna, Kamea and Harley.
She was predeceased by her father, Jim Tate, and mother, Dora Tate (nee Freethy), her brothers, Ron (Lorna) Tate, and Doug (Lana) Tate, and a stepdaughter, Marcia Karpan.
Words will never be able to express how much Pat is loved and how much she will be missed.
