McMillan, Joan
1950 – 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ms. Joan Carol McMillan on Friday, December 26, 2025, at the Red Deer Regional Hospital, at the age of 75 years. Joan was born on November 14, 1950, in Birch River, Manitoba. She worked in Manitoba in telephone systems for thirty years and was able to retire at the age of 42. Following her retirement, Joan worked for several years with Northmart, and later in Dietary Services at The Pas Health Complex. Joan was a faithful member of the Catholic Church throughout her life. She moved to The Pas, Manitoba, in 1969 and later relocated to Medicine Hat, Alberta, in 2013. Upon moving to Medicine Hat, Joan for a short period of time worked at Walmart as well as volunteered her time to the blood bank. Throughout her journey of life, Joan was also actively involved in political campaigns, generously giving her time and effort to the community she called home.
Joan is lovingly remembered by her four sons; Shane of Red Deer, Dwayne of Red Deer, Bradley (McKayla) of Swift Current, and Christopher (Kelsey) of Red Deer. She is also survived by her brother, Howard (Terry) Gaudry of London, Ontario. Joan was a devoted grandmother and is survived by her grandchildren; Noah, Chase, Carsha, Lawson, Jameson, Easton, Deon, and Avery. Her grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she was immensely proud of each of them. She was predeceased by her parents, Bramuel and Elizabeth McMillan; and her siblings, Bramuel D. McMillan, Larry McMillan, Duff Gaudry, Bob Gaudry, Joe Gaudry, Josh Gaudry, and August Gaudry.
A Celebration of Life in honour of Joan will be held in the Spring/Summer of 2026. If desired, memorial donations may be sent to the Canadian Cancer Society at https://cancer.ca/en/. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed at www.parklandfuneralhome.com
