BRESEE, Linda
1950 – 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mrs. Linda Flora Bresee at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Saturday, March 29, 2025 at the age of 74 years. Linda was born on October 16, 1950, to James and Doris MacNeill in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. After graduating from Colonel Grey High School in Charlottetown, she attended college for a Secretarial course and then worked at the University of P.E.I in the Steno pool. She met Garry in Charlottetown, and they were married on December 23, 1970. After some time in Vancouver and Calgary, they eventually settled near Ponoka, and together they built a grain and purebred Charolais cattle farm near Garry’s brothers. Their first daughter, Sheri, was born in Ponoka in 1973, followed by Deanna in 1977. Linda’s years were filled with farming, gardening, pets, horses, and good times with family and friends at the Home Glen Hall. During this time, she was very involved with the Dakota United Church, teaching Sunday school and being a delegate to Women of Unifarm. In 1985, the decision was made to sell the farm and move to Calgary. While in Calgary, Linda worked full-time, and spent her spare time gardening, going on family camping trips, and learning to ski. In 1988, after a six-week trip across the United States and Canada, Garry and Linda settled in Red Deer. Linda worked as an Administrative Assistant for the Alberta Wheat Pool for many years. In 1997, the family moved to Aspelund Ridge, an acreage west of Blackfalds. Shortly after the move, Linda took on the role of Administrative Assistant for Garry’s company, AgPro Consulting and Appraisal. They enjoyed many years of working together, raising Warmblood horses, and creating a beautiful yard and home. During this time, they began to travel more, including many cruises with Linda’s sister and brother-in-law, Paula and Chris. They purchased a fifth wheel and welcomed their first granddaughter, Madelyn. Following Garry’s sudden passing in 2012, Linda set out to sell the acreage and eventually moved to a duplex in Red Deer. In 2014, Linda walked her daughter, Deanna, down the aisle at her wedding and welcomed Aaron’s son, Austin into the family as her first grandson. In 2015, Linda’s second granddaughter, Livia was born. While in Red Deer, she eventually took on a part-time role at The Bay where she worked until early 2024. Linda’s passion during her last few years was her family. She enjoyed family gatherings and trips, the company of her dog, Trixie, and spending as much time with her three grandchildren as possible. Linda will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Sheri (Ryan, Madelyn) and her daughter, Deanna (Aaron, Austin and Livia); her sisters, Betty and Paula; her brother, Wayne and their families; her sister-in-law, Ann; her brother-in-law, Keith; and her brother-in-law, Darryl, and their families. Linda was predeceased by her husband of forty-one years, Garry; her parents, James and Doris MacNeill; her mother and father-in-law, Doug and Elsie Bresee; her brother, Wendell MacNeill; her sister-in-law, Gail Bresee, and her brother-in-law, Dave Holmes. A Celebration of Linda’s Life was held at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer, Alberta on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Interment was also held at the Alto Reste Cemetery, Red Deer, Alberta at 1:30 p.m. For those unable to attend Linda’s Celebration of Life, you may watch the livestream at www.parklandfuneralhome.com, and press the “livestream” button on the top right hand corner of webpage just prior to 11:00 a.m. Thank you to all for the prayers, visits, and messages and a special thank you to the ALS Clinic at South Health Campus in Calgary.
