JOHNSON, Curtis
1950 – 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mr. Curtis Reynold Johnson of Red Deer, Alberta, at the Red Deer Hospice, on Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at the age of 74 years. Curtis was born in Cadomin, Alberta in July 1950, to parents, Albert and Wilma Johnson. As a child, he moved around to many different towns in British Columbia and then Alberta, attending High School in Coronation and then, Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School in Red Deer. Curtis got to know many friends through playing bass for numerous bands across Alberta, and while playing at a show in Olds, he met his wife, Debra Johnson. They were married in Calgary in 1981, and later, after the birth of their son, Everett, they enjoyed a peaceful life together, until her unfortunate passing from A.L.S. in 1999. Curtis was a founding member of the Cruisers Club of Red Deer, a hot rod and classic car club, where they put on a weekly car show. Curtis played a large role in organizing the Super Run over the years, at Westerner Park. Curtis will be remembered for his skills and dedication to his passion for audio engineering, often volunteering to run sound systems at churches, senior’s centers, and local halls, for little to no pay. Curtis has found peace after a courageous battle with cancer. The loss to the community will surely be felt for years to come and his impact on those he kept close and loved will be remembered through them.
