1950 ~ In Loving Memory of Gilbert Francis Joseph Madoar ~ 2021
Posted Feb 13, 2021 | 3:02 PM
Gilbert Francis Joseph Madoar of Red Deer County was at home with his family when he passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at the age of 70 years, after a courageous battle with cancer. Gilbert was born in Shawville, Quebec and moved to Red Deer in 1966. He met and then married his loving wife, Heide, in 1969. Together they created a wonderful life, and a loving home for themselves and their two daughters. As a teenager Gilbert was an accomplished speed skater. His coach and mentor, Mr. Bruno Comis, played a significant role in his life and he meant a great deal to Gilbert. Gilbert had the gift of creating and was able to make and build anything with his hands. He worked as a sheet metal man and roofer but he was also a talented woodworker. Throughout his life he created countless pieces. Many items were sold at the Red Deer Farmers market over 28 years, but he also made one of a kind pieces that are now cherished family heirlooms. In his spare time, he enjoyed photography, camping, and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed the challenge of solving an issue – and there wasn’t anything he couldn’t figure out. Throughout his life he faced many health issues, but he faced each one courageously and never let them get the best of him. He was a strong man and taught his daughters to be strong as well. He was their hero. Gilbert was a kind and loving partner to his wife as well as an incredible father and grandfather. He often expressed that his greatest love of all was his family. Gilbert will be lovingly remembered by his wife Heide; their children Dena (Roy) and Melisa (Mark); and his grandchildren, Nathan VandenBrink, Makenna VandenBrink and Megan Milne. Gilbert will also be sadly missed by his sister, Theresa Madoar and brother-in-law, Hans Foerderer (Val), as well as numerous family members and dear friends. Gilbert was predeceased by his mother and father, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, two nieces and one nephew. A private family viewing will be held at Parkland Funeral Home. If desired, Memorial Donations in Gilbert’s honor may be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society at www.cancer.ca. Condolences may be sent or viewed at www.parklandfuneralhome.com.
