1950 ~ David ‘Dave’ Borlé ~ 2025 "Dave is deeply missed as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. His family acknowledges that he is also missed as a friend, a mentor, a volunteer, a guide and a jack- of-all-trades helper who showed up whenever asked."

BORLE, David
1950 – 2025
David ‘Dave’ Borlé, lately of Red Deer County, died of a heart attack at the age of 75 years while traveling in Tuscany, Italy.
Dave is survived by his wife of 44 years, Barb; children, Brienne (Joel), John (Eryn), Steven (Holly), Elyse (Daniel), Ethan (Melissa), and Conner (Leah); and grandchildren, Sydney, Ryley, Fliare, Aubrie, Beck, Samuel, Nailo, Lexi, Lucia, Leo, Emmi, Remi and Davide. He also leaves behind his best friends and siblings, Cherylnn, Mary (Jim), June (Blaine), Simonne (Kelvin), and Joyce (Gary).
Dave was born on February 17, 1950. Raised in Villeneuve, Alberta, Dave grew up the son of the friendly local mechanic (Andre) and the very lady-like schoolteacher turned full-time homemaker (Margaret). Although second oldest, he was first in mischief, but with a sense of humour that made it hard to hold a grudge, just ask his sisters. With an engineering degree from the University of Alberta, Dave embarked on a 37-year career with O&G services company, Schlumberger. His greater adventure, however, was kicked off when he convinced Barbara to “marry an old goat” in 1981. Work transfers took the burgeoning Borlé bunch around Alberta and beyond to Louisiana and Nova Scotia. Dave could not have found a partner more prepared to build a home despite the frequent moves and he logged many long hours trusting his children were loved and well-cared for at home.
The entire family last lived together in Belize—a place Barb and David chose to complete a year of service related to their faith community. He and Barb demonstrated in this (and many other ways) that trust in God, an authentic concern for your neighbour, and a willingness to pitch in are more important than individual success and security. Belize also taught them some varieties of potatoes just don’t do well in tropical soil.
Retiring in 2010, Dave’s later years were equally richly filled with extensive international travel, teasing and treasuring grandchildren, cultivating a garden (with a running tally on raspberries picked—34 gallons this summer!), and buying back hoes, tractors, and palettes of insulation because “one of the kids might use it”.
Dave is deeply missed as a husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. His family acknowledges that he is also missed as a friend, a mentor, a volunteer, a guide and a jack- of-all-trades helper who showed up whenever asked.
Friends, old and new, are invited to remember Dave with his family. Evening prayer service will be held on Friday, October 31, 2025 at 7:00 pm at St. Peter’s Parish Catholic Church, 55-54200 Range Road 265, Sturgeon County, Villeneuve, Alberta. The Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 10:30 am at St. Peter’s Church in Villeneuve followed by a reception.
In lieu of flowers, the family would gratefully encourage donations to West Country Hearth or The Mustard Seed in Red Deer. West Country Hearth is a not-for-profit community run seniors’ residence in Dave’s hometown where many loved ones have resided. Envelopes to donate to West Country Hearth will be available at the funeral or donations by e-transfer can be made to donation@westcountryhearth.ca (tax receipts can be requested by email).
