BOYE, Stanley
1949 – 2025
Stanley Allen Boye passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early hours of Christmas Day, December 25, 2025 at Olds Alberta. He was born in Innisfail, Alberta on May 24, 1949 and grew up on the farm along Crooked Creek. He attended school at Crooked Creek and Caroline, Alberta. Stan worked at various jobs over the years but the one he talked the most about was grader operator. He started at Red Deer County under the supervision of his brother, Ken Boye and finished his career working for Danny Harder at Caroline. He took great pride in a well-groomed gravel road. He never left a ridge of gravel or snow across a driveway or in front of a mailbox. He was known as ‘Stan the Grader Man’ and people on route were quick to say “hi” and “good job”. He even carried cards in his wallet to hand out that said ‘Stan the Grader Man’. Stan was always quick with a story, a smile and hearty laugh. He enjoyed dancing, starting in his teenage years, he square danced and went on to be a square dance caller. He was a social butterfly and at the social dances, he never missed a dance. In retirement, Stan went to the Innisfail Legion everyday to put his dollar in – he even won the snowball once in a while and was extremely lucky in the meat draws. He spent hours visiting at the Legion and once he moved to Olds, Alberta he was often at the Olds Legion but still going to Innisfail Legion everyday. His Legion friends were very important to him, as were the new friends that he made when he moved into Whitewater Way condos in Olds. The card games, potluck suppers and social time at the condo was a favourite time of his. Stan put thousands of miles on his vehicles going out west of Sundre, Alberta to look for the wild horses. His phone is full of pictures. He always knew where to find them and, in the spring, he was quick to spot the colts and I’m sure he could tell the traits of the different stallions and their herds. Stan is survived by numerous family and friends who will miss him dearly. Remember him with Laughter. A Celebration of Stan’s Life will be held at a later date.
