Randy Betker passed away peacefully on Friday, June 23, 2023, in Red Deer, Alberta after living courageously with cancer following a diagnosis in 2022. Randy was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on March 12, 1949, and spent most of his childhood in Edmonton, Alberta. In his early twenties, Randy moved to Wetaskiwin, Alberta for work and during this time he met Irene. Together they raised four daughters and called Bawlf, Alberta home. Randy worked for many years in the grocery, food sales and delivery industry. In later years, he moved back to Wetaskiwin where he worked at the Home Hardware Distribution Centre until his retirement in 2014. Following a brief residence in Penticton, British Columbia, Randy returned to Alberta and settled in Red Deer. In time, Randy met Jacquie Algra and the couple exchanged vows in 2020. When he wasn’t working or completing a home project, Randy pursued his interest in sports/recreation, reading, movies and music. Randy is survived by his wife, Jacquie Algra, his daughters, Jennifer (Jeff) Willson, Leisha (Tim) Casselman, Kimberly (Patrick) O’Connor, and Randi (Ryan) Kalynka, his grandchildren, Jevin (Shanna) Willson, Jarett Willson (Shannon Smith), Olivia O’Connor, Séamus O’Connor, Jaymes Sand-Kalynka, and Merrick Kalynka, his great grandchildren, Laken Willson, and Elaine Willson, his sisters, Lynn (Rory) Nugent, and Brenda (Glenn) Lonsbury, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Randy was predeceased by his parents, William and Mary Betker. A Celebration of Randy’s Life will be held at the Norsemen Inn at Camrose, Alberta on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. Family and friends are welcome to attend.
