It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the passing of Frank Michael Romanow on Saturday, June 22, 2024 at the age of 74 years. Frank was born on September 8, 1949. Raised on the family farm which is still in the family today near Candiac, Saskatchewan, he attended the Fallowmead Country School before completing his schooling at the Montmartre High School. Frank loved all sports from a young age but especially loved baseball, curling and hockey. He played hockey for many years from Midget League to Oldtimers with the Glenavon and Montmartre teams. Frank married Elaine from Kendal, Saskatchewan on August 4, 1973, and together they had four sons, who continued Frank’s love for sports, playing hockey, baseball and volleyball. In his later years. Frank enjoyed watching his eleven grandchildren play those same sports, and additionally, boxing. Frank farmed for fourteen years before moving to town to start his own welding business. During that time he also had the opportunity to work in many places including the United States of America, Africa, Northern and Western Canada. As a welder/tradesman, Frank became well known for the trailers that he made. He formerly retired at age seventy. Frank enjoyed many hobbies including gardening, fishing, camping, golfing and working outdoors. He was a long-time member of the Legion and held an honorary membership for the Knights of Columbus and was always active with the Knights at both the Holy Ghost Parish in Candiac and St. Vladimir Ukrainian Catholic Church in Red Deer, Alberta. Frank had a deep love for his family and was an excellent example of what a husband, father and grandfather should be. Frank will be lovingly remembered by his wife of fifty years, Elaine, his son, Steven (Tanya) Romanow and their children, Cameron, Kevin and Breanna from Regina, Saskatchewan, his son, Terry (Chantal) Romanow and their children, Dylan, Chloe and Ava from Lacombe, Alberta, his son, Clayton (Natasha) Romanow and their children, Ciera, Cyson and Tytan from Corning, Saskatchewan, and his son, Michael (Charlene) Romanow and their children, Cali and Quinn from Drumheller, Alberta. Frank will also be sadly missed by his brother, Pat Romanow, his sisters, Bernadette Romanow, Joyce (George) Legasse, Marilyn McIntosh and Jacquie (Carlito) Vasquez, his sisters-in-law, Bertha Kress, Paulette McCarthy and Bernice (Rick) Swanson, his brothers-in-law, Allen (Marie) Kress and Gerald (Rhonda) Kress and his numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. Frank was predeceased by his parents, Mike and Cecilia Romanow, his brothers, John and Peter Romanow, his parents-in-law, Wendel and Beth Kress and his brothers-in-law, Terry Kennett and Ron McCarthy.
