CLERMONT, Fairilee
1949 – 2026
Fairilee Elizabeth Clermont (née Runge) lived brightly, and with determination, from May 22, 1949, to April 4, 2026, before passing away at home with family around her. She was madly in love with her husband, Jon Clermont, for more than fifty-four years of marriage and everyone who saw them together knew it.
She has two children: Elizabeth Grierson (with her husband, Darrell), and Daniel Clermont (with his wife, Shannon). They share a legacy of family activities such as camping trips, board game nights, extended family photo posing, and a quest for the best form of white elephant gift exchange.
Her greatest delights were her five grandchildren: Emmett, Abigail, Jordana, Simon and Levi. Honorable mention goes to her dog, Escudo, who we have always speculated is the real favorite.
She will be lovingly remembered by her brother, Rae Runge and his wife Wilma, her sister, Melodie Runge MacLean Rollins, and her nieces and nephews. She made it a personal mission to equip all of them with Christmas socks, repeatedly, over many years. She is also famous for Cranberry Fluff, a family dessert posing as salad that nobody will be able to perfectly replicate.
Fairilee’s faith was important to her, and she made space for the sacred in her everyday life. She appreciated all of God’s creation. There was always a devotional book or Bible by her nightstand or on the kitchen table. She played piano, she read books, she made every kind of handcraft, she polished silver, she planted flowers, she harmonized in key, she traveled as widely as possible, she never visited empty-handed, and she always listened. She stayed up late and baked cakes and drove for hours and wrote letters and put cute stickers on everything, to make us all feel loved. And we did, and we do, and we will miss her.
In keeping with Fairilee’s wishes, a Private Family Graveside will be held. If you would like to share a memory or photo with her family, please do. There’s a button to share a memory on the left side of the page and we would love to hear your favorite stories and memories of Fairilee.
