ABERLE, Dorothy
1949 – 2026
Dorothy May Aberle passed away peacefully on Friday, January 30, 2026 at the age of 76 years. Dorothy was born on May 30, 1949 at Medicine Hat, Alberta to Leonard and Mary (nee Schulz) Schaufele. She grew up with three sisters, Gladys, Bonnie and Wanda; and one brother, Stanley in Schuler, Alberta. In December of 1969, Dorothy married Dennis Aberle. The two then began to move around Alberta for work. They settled in Rocky Mountain House where they began to farm. The farm sat on top of a hill with a magnificent view of the North Saskatchewan River and the Rocky Mountains. There they had two daughters, Darla and Deline and Dorothy stayed home to raise them. She loved getting together with her neighbours for coffee or a good game of cards. After Dennis retired, they built a house in Red Deer. There Dorothy spent her time Square Dancing and volunteering for the Central Alberta Theatre. When she wasn’t spending time with her family and friends, Dorothy enjoyed cooking, sewing, and crafting. Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Dennis; her daughters, Darla (Zubin) Sologar and Deline Aberle; six grandchildren, Kassandra (Brandon) Forbes, Rheanne Van Spengen (Mitchell Kendrick), Avinash Sologar, Nischal Sologar, Scarlet Jones and Andromeda Cochran; two great grandchildren, Oaklee and Troy Forbes. Dorothy will also be sadly missed by her brother, Stanley Schaufele; her sisters, Gladys Klics and Wanda Holcroft; her sisters-in-law, Vicki Bach and Gloria Walker; her brothers-in-law, Gilbert Aberle and Pat Aberle; numerous family members and dear friends. Dorothy was predeceased by her parents, Leonard and Mary Schaufele; her sister, Bonnie Schneider and her brother-in-law, Leslie Aberle. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 6 McMillan Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta at 1:00 p.m. Private Family Interment will take place at a later date.
