With infinite love and deep sorrow, we announce the peaceful passing of Barbara Irene Hopfner (nee MacGregor); daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Barb died at her home in Red Deer on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at the age of 72 years, surrounded by loved ones. Barb served on the Red Deer Public School Board for many years and otherwise volunteered in her community. She had a green thumb and was a wonderful cook. Barb was compassionate with a keen intellect and a sharp wit. Barb will be forever remembered and missed. Barb is survived by her devoted and loving husband of fifty-three years, Joseph, her daughters, Laurel, Carla and Meaghan (Felix), her grandchildren, AJ, Sarah, Caelee, Jaime and Casper. She will also be sadly missed by her sister, Carol (Tim) and her brother, Rod, along with many friends and other family. A Memorial to celebrate Barb’s Life will happen post-COVID, hopefully spring or summer 2021. If desired, Memorial Donations in Barb’s honour may be made directly to the Red Deer Public School Foundation at www.rdpsd.ab.ca/Foundation.php, the Red Deer Regional Hospital Foundation at www.rdrhfoundation.com, Mental Health Foundation of Alberta at www.mentalhealthfoundation.ca or S.T.A.R.S. at www.stars.ca.
