Rob Schwartz of Red Deer, Alberta, left this earthly realm on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at the age of 76 years with the hope that all family and friends would continue to live their lives to the fullest. His battle with cancer demonstrated his courage in facing life’s challenges with a smile and a funny story. Although he could appear gruff, Rob had a kind and caring heart. He was so proud of his family, and his grandsons gave him so much joy. Rob was the second son of Joe and Irma Schwartz of Ashern, Manitoba. In 1970, Rob married Judy Nord of Steep Rock, Manitoba. They farmed in the Ashern area until they moved to Red Deer, Alberta in 1981. During his lifetime, he worked on power lines, farmed, and did home renovations. He earned his pilot’s license and had many adventures flying his own airplane. He was a handy kind of guy who could fix or build almost anything. Rob loved nothing better than a good auction sale, where he could find a treasure to bring home and restore it to “better than new” condition. He was passionate about landowner rights, and the environment. Happiness for him was harvesting his garden, practical jokes, being out in nature or swearing at a project in his shop. He could find humor in the most mundane situations and loved to share these stories when friends and family came to visit. Rob will be dearly missed and always remembered by his wife, Judy, and his children, Lorne (Karen) and Laurie. He was a grateful Grandpa to Leif, Rowan and Egan. He is survived by his siblings, Dave (Pat), Ron (Lorna), Reg (Janice), Janet, John (Brigitte), Graham (Elaine); and his aunt, Phyllis Schwartz; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Rick; his brother-in-law, Art Peterson; his nephew, Jeffrey Schwartz; and his great nieces, Beth and Jasmyn. A Celebration of Rob’s Life will be held on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the Valley Centre Community Hall, 38062 Range Road 260, Red Deer County, Alberta.
