DEPALME, Doreen
1947 – 2025
Mrs. Doreen Karen Depalme (nee Kjinserdahl) passed away after a short stay at the Michener Extendicare, on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 at the age of 77 years. Doreen was born on June 26, 1947 in High River, Alberta, raised near Nanton, and attended school in Cayley. Doreen followed in the footsteps of her mother as a lifelong horse enthusiast, who shared her love of horses and farming with her family. Doreen took her Nursing Aide in Calgary and moved to Red Deer where she worked at Welsh’s Saddlery. Doreen met Ray at a going away party for her sister, Sharon. Doreen and Ray were inseparable since that day and were married the next year in Claresholm on July 19, 1969. This year would have been Doreen and Ray’s 56th Wedding Anniversary. A hard working, steadfast partner on the farm, cooking meals for harvest crews, working cattle and keeping a meticulous household, Doreen was a loving wife and mother to three children, supporting and encouraging her family’s activities with sports, horses, 4H, Pony Club and countless cattle shows and events. Doreen was delighted to be a grandmother to her two grandsons and two granddaughters, and recently a great grandmother. Doreen will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Raymond Depalme; son, Travis (Dana) Depalme, daughters, Adele (Vince) Ohama and Natalie (David) Evdokimoff; grandsons, Reid Depalme (Katlyn), and Parker Depalme; granddaughters, Elaina and Erica Evdokimoff, and great grandson, Rhett Depalme. Doreen was predeceased by her parents, Willard and Dorothy Kjinserdahl. Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 6 McMillan Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be held at the Burnt Lake Cemetery, Red Deer County, Alberta at a later date.
