Mr. Len Hamelin, of Innisfail, Alberta passed away on October, 22, 2025 at the age of 78 years. Len was born at Penetanguishene, Ontario the second eldest of seven children. Len moved to Drumheller, Alberta in 1972 where he met the love of his life, Dagmar Kiechofel. They were married in May of 1972 and made a move to Fort McMurray to work in the tar sands for a year where their first son was born. They made their way back to Drumheller, where their daughter was born, and Len started with Corrections Canada. In 1985 the family moved to Innisfail, with Len still working with Corrections at the Bowden Penitentiary.

Len and Dagmar loved touring on their bikes, especially loving the time they spent together with their friends in the Gold Wing Road Riders Association. Len’s bike was always gleaming, he put everyone else to shame. Len also loved playing poker with the guys, hunting with his friends and heading out to Jim and Nancy’s ranch. He especially loved his Calgary Flames. The family would like to thank Jim and Nancy Gitzel for all their kindness and encouragement over the years.

He will be lovingly remembered by his son, Len Jr. (Keo) Hamelin, their children, Victoria, Cassandra, Natasha, Dylan and Jordanna, and his daughter Tanya Hamelin, as well as his brothers, David “Rusty” (Shirley) Hamelin, his brother, Allan and his sister Edith, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
