John Wayne Gress of Red Deer, Alberta, formerly of North Battleford, Saskatchewan, passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Monday, January 16, 2023 at the age of 75 years. Wayne was born on December 19, 1947 to parents, Priscilla and Ferdinand Gress in Melfort, Saskatchewan. Wayne took great pride in the fact that he was a Licensed Chartered Accountant in British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan. When his daughters were children, he was involved in many of their activities, including ball teams and the local band that the girls played in, of which he was the President. Wayne’s hobbies were card games and the stock market, which he paid very close attention to. Another thing Wayne loved to do was watch baseball, especially his favorite team, the Toronto Blue Jays. Wayne will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Janet Gress, his daughters, Lana (Derek) Gress and Carrie Osicki, his two grandchildren, Evan and Blake Osicki, his brother, Murray (Helen) Gress, his sisters, Caroline (Edwin) Wilkinson, Angela (Walter) Gress-Perrin, Charlene (Bruce) Meyers, and Leanne (Doug) Gress Blue, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Wayne was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Brian and Denis Gress.
