1947 ~ James Stewart Ramage ~ 2025 "Those who knew Jim will remember him as genuine, caring, and resilient — a man who faced life’s challenges with quiet strength and humor. He was a devoted father and grandfather who loved his girls deeply. James Stewart Ramage, known to most as Jim, passed away peacefully on November 2nd,2025, in Sundre, Alberta, at the age of 77.
Jim was born in Wawota, Saskatchewan, and grew up in Esterhazy, where he enjoyed his paper route, curling, and driving taxi as a young man. His adventurous spirit led him north to Inuvik, where he worked before attending SAIT to earn his Heavy Duty Mechanic License.
In the early 1970s, Jim met and married Kathy, the love of his life. Together they moved to Olds, Alberta, where Jim founded Ramage Crane Services and they welcomed three beautiful daughters. Life brought both joy and hardship — when Kathy fell ill in 1981 . Jim faced the immense challenge of raising his girls on his own. Kathy later passed away in 1992.
In 1984, Jim was in a tragic car accident that resulted in a traumatic brain injury. His recovery was nothing short of a miracle, though it left him unable to continue his work. Through it all, Jim’s strength, determination, and love for his family never wavered. His parents, Erna and Alex Ramage, moved from Saskatchewan to help him with the children, the farm, and the business, surrounding him with the same steadfast love he had always shown others.
Jim was predeceased by his beloved wife Kathy, his parents Erna and Alex Ramage, his daughter Andrea Barker, and his sister Shelly Brown.
He leaves behind his daughters Daena Ramage and Jaeme Redgwell (Trevor); grandchildren Travis, Keira, and Ezra Redgwell, and Lucian Barker; his son-in-law Tyler Barker; and his sister Carol Fawcett (Gerry). He will also be fondly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
