It is with great sorrow and sadness that the family announces the passing of Mr. Curtis James Goughnour, surrounded by his family, at Lacombe, Alberta on Saturday, March 23, 2024 at the age of 78 years. Curtis was born in Lethbridge, Alberta on April 29, 1945, and raised on the family farm in Enchant, Alberta, where he lived and farmed till he relocated his family to a farm outside of Clive, Alberta in 1975. Curtis was a man of integrity, whose kindness knew no bounds. His presence radiated warmth, his teasing ways sprinkled laughter, and his heart boundless. Throughout his life, he cultivated deep and meaningful relationships, cherishing every moment spent with family and friends. Curtis’ commitment to his community was unparalleled. Whether through his involvement in fund-raising activities (Ducks Unlimited) or volunteering his time (curling bonspiels, 4-H leader, coaching and umpire baseball, UPC), you would always find him behind the scenes organizing, supporting, and looking for no accolades. Among his many passions, Curtis cherished nothing more than the time spent with his family. A devoted brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend, he embraced every opportunity to create lasting memories and share in the joys of life. His love knew no bounds, and his legacy will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Curtis will be lovingly remembered by his beloved wife of fifty-seven years, Laraine, whom he met while taking Agriculture at Olds College, his daughters, Krista and Jillayne, his son, Derek, his grandchildren, Brawley, Skylar, Turner and Kyra, his brother, Bill (Bonnie) and his son-in-law, John. Curtis was predeceased by his father, Marvin, his mother, Doris and his sister, Maureen. A Celebration of Curtis’ Life will be held at the Lacombe Memorial Centre, Centennial Room, 5214 – 50 Avenue, Lacombe, Alberta on Friday, April 5, 2024 at 1:30 p.m. With April being Cancer Awareness month, in lieu of flowers, if desired, Memorial Donations in Curtis’ honor may be made directly to “Gift of a Daffodil Pin” at www.giftsforthecure.ca/products/gift-of-a-daffodil in honor of Curtis’ long battle with cancer, or to the Lacombe Hospital Palliative Care Society, 5430 – 47 Avenue, Lacombe, Alberta, T4L 1G8.
