Donald Wayne Johnston was born May 5, 1945 and passed quietly in his sleep September 7, 2021 on the family farm. He was known for his passion for farming, woodworking, gardening and love of animals. He is survived by his wife Ila, his daughters Lynn Kosik and Lori Fate, his grandchildren Jessica and Jeremy Kosik and Shaelyn and Dallas Fate, as well as the many extended family members whom he embraced in his protective and loving care. Whether you were related by blood or not you would be welcomed at his table to enjoy tea and homemade treats.
He was a “kid” at heart when it came to birthdays or Christmas and he couldn’t wait to see the smile on another’s face when they would open their gift that he had made with them in mind. His children and grandchildren have many of these treasures in their homes and they will remind them of his generosity, loving spirit and kindness. His extended family will remember him fondly for the garden produce, honeyberries and apples that he would give to help them through the winter months. He was always there with a helping hand when needed.
He is predeceased by his parents, Dick and Kay Johnston, his brother Hugh Johnston and several uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and a nephew. He will be greatly missed by many.
