1944 – 2025
Mr. Richard ‘Rick’ William Gottenbos of Penhold, Alberta passed away suddenly at the Foothills Medical Centre on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at the age of 81 years. Rick was born on August 30, 1944 in St. Paul, Alberta to Francis and Lyda (nee Looy). Rick will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Claudette (nee Rivey); daughter, Michelle (Ben) Swanson; sons, Terry and Marty (Toni); grandchildren, Milo (Emily), Rebecca (Jarrett), Kobe (June), Davis, Norah, and Rowan; and great grandchild, Mayza. Rick will also be sadly missed by his brother, John (Mable); sisters, Joan Fuller, Rita McAleer, Verna (Glen) MacPherson and Vivian Rasmussen; as well as numerous extended family members and dear friends. Rick was predeceased by his parents, Francis and Lyda; sisters, Minnie (John) O’Connor and Marie Duke (Maurice Robinson); his brother-in-laws, Art Fuller, Pete McAleer and Randy Rasmussen. A Celebration of Rick’s Life will be held at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer, Alberta on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. A Private Family Graveside service will take place at the Horn Hill Cemetery at a later date.
