Mr. Mario Gonzales Torres Jr. of Red Deer, Alberta passed away surrounded by his family, at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, on Sunday, July 4, 2021 at the age of 76 years. Mario was born and raised in Malabon City, Philippines and lived in Barangay Ibaba. He studied in U.E Manila, and took accounting. Later on, he worked as a Jeepney Operator. Mario belonged to the Jeepney Association of Manila. He came to Canada in 2003, and lived in Red Deer, Alberta. Mario worked for Quinn’s Oilfield for six years as a Machine Operator. He gained a lot of friends while living in Red Deer. He loved playing cards and was happiest when treating his friends and family to meals. Mario had a beautiful smile and a great laugh. He really enjoyed the company of other people. Mario will be lovingly remembered by his children, Rommel Torres of Manila, Philippines, Winny Torres of Red Deer, Alberta, Lahni Esguerra of Red Deer, Alberta and Pinky Villas of Red Deer, Alberta; and his eight grandchildren, Queeny Torres, Laura Torres, Mark Torres, Chris Torres, Jasmine Torres, Joshua Torres, Christine Torres and Jhann Villas. He will also be deeply missed by his six brothers, Virgilio Torres, Rodolfo Torres, Edelberto Torres, Manuel Torres, Armando Torres and Renato Torres and his two sisters, Nelia Torres and Erlinda Hermosa. Mario was predeceased by his wife, Gregoria Torres and his parents, Mario Torres Sr. and Joaquina Torres. A Public Visitation will be held at Parkland Funeral Home on Saturday, July 17, 2021 between 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 – 67A Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. An internment for Mario will take place at a later date in the Philippines, where he will be laid to rest with his beloved parents.
