1944 – 2025
In loving memory, Genny Leier of Red Deer County, Alberta passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Monday, May 26, 2025 at the age of 81 years.
Raised on the McBride farm west of Big Valley, she balanced the hard work with the enjoyment of family and friends. Genny was a proud employee for the City of Red Deer – Treasury, Public Works and Engineering Departments. Her lifetime of friendships was built upon her warm smile, kind heart and delicious meals. Genny cherished her time with her grand and great grandchildren, volunteering, entertaining, playing cards, slot machines and finally, her many crafts. Genny leaves to mourn her two children: Les Leier, Mona Bishop (Darren), grandchildren, Brandyn Blain (Gaileen and Hallie), Rael IJff, (Erik and Clara), Aly Salsbury (Jonah), siblings Nelson McBride (Cherylanne) and Dianne Bradley. She was predeceased by her parents, Les and Marguerite and younger brother, Brian. Genny’s family is grateful to the staff of both Red Deer Regional Hospital, Unit 33 and The Hamlets for their compassion, comfort and care.
