1944 ~ Elmer Schneider ~ 2026 "We are deeply grateful for everything he taught us, the values he instilled, and the unconditional love he gave so freely. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing he is now at peace. Forever loved, forever remembered, and forever missed."

Elmer Schneider passed away peacefully at Sundre Hospital on Monday, June 15, 2026, at the age of eighty-two years. Born in Paradise Hill, Saskatchewan, to George and Anne Schneider, Elmer lived a life defined by hard work, perseverance, humor, and a deep devotion to family. He shared nearly fifty-eight wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Carole Schneider (Edwards).
Elmer leaves behind his loving family: his daughters and sons-in-law, Daphne Jones, Dawn Heppell (Mark), Rhonda Johnston, and Terri Bass (Neil); and his cherished grandchildren, Brennan, Carson, Brooklynn, Jacqueline, Jordan, Keaton, Mackenzie, and Steel, all of whom brought immense pride and joy to his life.
He is also survived by his brother George (Holly), Sister-In-Law Dorothy (Ken) and Brother-in-Law Jim (Audrey), in addition to Numerous Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and Friends.
Elmer was predeceased by his parents, George and Anne Schneider; his parents-in-law, Don and Erma Edwards; and his sisters, Virginia Boser (Gabe), Georgette Schneider, Esther Bourassa (Paul), and Madeline Saylor (Lorne).
A lifelong construction worker, Elmer continued working until the age of seventy-five. His journey took him from St. Walburg, Saskatchewan, to Fort McMurray, Alberta, in nineteen sixty-nine, where he helped build and witness the community’s boom years. In nineteen eighty-nine, he and Carole moved to Edmonton, where they spent twenty years before settling in Sundre, Alberta, where they enjoyed the past seventeen years together.
To his family, Elmer was a hero—a fearless and tenacious man who faced an eight-year battle with cancer with remarkable strength, courage, and unwavering positivity. He never missed an opportunity to spend time with family and friends. Known for his quick wit, endless jokes, and playful pranks, he brought laughter wherever he went.
Elmer lived by the motto, “Work Hard, Play Hard.” He was a true outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, golfing, and travelling with Carole in their RV. Authentic, generous, and one of a kind, he was a rare gem whose presence enriched the lives of all who knew him.
We are deeply grateful for everything he taught us, the values he instilled, and the unconditional love he gave so freely. Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing he is now at peace.
Forever loved, forever remembered, and forever missed.
