Mr. Richard ‘Rick’ John Komorowski passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at the age of 81 years. Rick was born in Montreal, Quebec to Walter and Sophie (nee Statkiewicz) Komorowski. When Rick was five or six, the family moved to Burlington, Ontario, where he took all his schooling. After graduating from High School, he studied to be a Chartered Accountant and was articled to an accounting firm in Hamilton, Ontario. That is where he met Joan, who joined the firm as a secretary in February of 1966. Rick and Joan attended Bethany Bible Chapel in Hamilton, where he accepted Christ as his Saviour and was baptized. They flew to Wales to be married in Joan’s home church in August 1966.
Rick had many interesting accounting jobs which gave him the opportunity to travel and work in different countries. He was the controller in a company with branches in Germany, Holland, Belgium and South Africa. Every three or four months, he would spend a few days in each of these branches. On three occasions, several years apart, Rick and Joan moved to Wales for a year or so, allowing Rick to be a part of Joan’s family, to work in a different environment, and tour the UK thoroughly.
Rick spent most of his professional life in the Trust Industry, becoming President of Regional Trust, a small company in Ontario, until it merged with two other companies and formed Manulife Bank.
Rick and Joan moved to Three Hills, Alberta in 1997, where Rick worked in the Finance Department of Prairie Bible Institute, serving as Vice President of Finance and Operations, under President Rick Down, with whom he worked closely and very much admired.
After moving to Red Deer in 2014, Rick and Joan joined Bethany Baptist Church and enjoyed their involvement in its many activities. Rick loved the scriptures and tried to follow Christ’s example and teaching.
Rick will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Joan, and her large extended family in the UK. Rick was predeceased by his parents, his two sisters and his two brothers.
