ARCAND, Arnold
1943 – 2026
Mr. Arnold Arcand of Innisfail, Alberta, passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 6:01 a.m., surrounded by love. Born in Kirkland Lake, Ontario, Arnold treasured his family above all else. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, whose kindness, storytelling, and passion for music touched everyone who knew him.
Arnold loved sharing stories, playing guitar, and performing with his band. Music was one of his lifelong passions and a way he connected with others. He is survived by his beloved wife, Helen, with whom he shared nearly 60 years of marriage—a testament to a lifetime of love, devotion, and partnership.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, coffee chats, and spending quality time with family and friends, and was a lifelong Montreal Canadiens hockey supporter who rarely missed a chance to cheer for his team. He carried a quiet heartbreak after the passing of his son, Arnold Arcand Jr., yet continued to hold his family—Jennifer Arcand and Arnold’s grandchildren Dan, Hope, Cash, and Paige—close to his heart. Being a Pépère to them was a special gift, and he cherished every moment spent together, creating lasting memories filled with laughter, stories, and love.
He is also survived by his daughter Carrie (Larry Pugliese), who deeply misses a loving and understanding father and father-in-law. The grief of losing him is beyond words, and the wish for more time together will forever live in her heart.
He will also be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Megan (Mike Saez), Mariah, Nathan, and Ethan, and great-grandchildren Mason, Myer, and Major. His grandchildren will forever cherish the many special occasions, family gatherings, and quiet everyday moments they shared with him. Each of them held a unique and deeply personal bond with their Pépère and they will always carry his stories, his humor, and his unconditional love in their hearts.
Arnold is also survived by his loving sister Corrine, brother Raymond Arcand (Cheryl Marshall), niece Amber, nephew, and godson Brandon, as well as niece Donna and nephews David and Darren.
He was predeceased by his sister Patricia Yarkie (George Yarkie), his mother May Rose Arcand, his father Dave Arcand, and his mother-in-law Nadia Harasym.
Sadly missed by his brothers- and sisters-in-law, Irene (Roger predeceased), George (Myrna), Mike (Dawn predeceased), Mary (Dan), and all their children. He will also be missed by many close friends, whose lives he touched with warmth, laughter, and kindness.
Arnold’s love of family, music, and life leaves a lasting legacy. He will be remembered for the joy, warmth, and closeness he brought to all who knew him. In honor of his memory, Arnold would appreciate a donation to your local food bank. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date, and details will be shared with family and friends.
