HALL, Leanne V.
1943 – 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Leanne Victoria Hall, a loving wife, devoted mother, and cherished member of our family and community. After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Leanne passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at the age of 82 years, surrounded by the love of her family.
Leanne was born on April 30, 1943, in Eckville, Alberta, and grew up nearby in the farming community of Gilby. She attended Medicine Valley School and later Eckville Junior/Senior High. After graduation, she moved to Red Deer and began working at Holmes Drug Store. On June 27, 1964, she married the love of her life, Ron, and together they built a beautiful life filled with love and purpose.
As a mother, Leanne was nurturing, patient, and endlessly loving. She was a shining example of kindness and strength, and a best friend to her daughter, Melanie.
Leanne had a remarkable gift for making others feel seen, heard, and cared for. She worked for many years with the Red Deer Chamber of Commerce before joining Gaetz United Church in 1988. It was there that she found her true calling, eventually becoming an Associate Minister. She retired in 2003.
Leanne was also known for her deep love of music. She sang with countless individuals and groups throughout her life and will be remembered fondly for her beautiful voice.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory: her loving husband of 61 years, Ron; her daughter, Melanie (Wayne) Atwood; her brother, Len (Elaine) Engen; her sister-in-law, Hariett (Frank) Mitchell; her brother-in-law, Harry Hall; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, step-grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Leanne will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, compassion, and music will live on in the hearts of many.
She was predeceased by her parents, Thelma and Roy Engen; her stepmother, Leatha Engen; her sister-in-law, Elaine Hall; her nieces, Theresa Hall and Debra Symes; and her beloved son, Todd Hall.
A Celebration of Leanne’s Life was held on Wednesday, August 6 at 11:00 A.M at Gaetz Memorial United Church, 4758 Ross Street, Red Deer. All who knew and loved her were welcomed to attend. A private family interment will take place at a later date.
