It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jim Crockett, loving husband, devoted father and grandfather, beloved relative and friend.
Jim left us peacefully on April 2, 2025, at 81 years of age following a difficult battle with dementia.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne, and their three children Jason (Artemis), Jill (Anita), and Boyd (Shelley). He was a loving and caring grandfather to Kalliope, James, Penny, and Mikayla and also to his grand-dogs Obi, Stella, Willow, Fergus and Leto. He is also survived by his sister Lynda (Tony), brother Rick (Barb) and his nephews Jim, Dave (Michelle), and Brian (Rhonda) and his niece Susan. Jim will also be lovingly remembered by the Cadzow Clan. He is pre-deceased by his father Arthur and mother Edna.
Jim was born in Edmonton in the fall of 1943 and graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture in 1968 and soon after married Joanne Cadzow of Lac La Biche. He started his own business, Crockett Soil Service, in Innisfail in 1972 where he sowed his own path in life which included being involved in many facets of the community such as volunteering as a coach for Innisfail Minor Hockey, president of the Jaycees and Rotary clubs, and contributing to the Innisfail Town Theater as both an actor and director.
In 1982, Jim and the family purchased a cabin in the Birch Bay Community at Gull Lake and enjoyed many happy years there with family and friends. In 1988, he moved his family to Kelowna, British Columbia, where they lived until 2016 when Jim and Joanne moved back to Innisfail to enjoy their retirement years.
Jim really had an extraordinary life – he was a talented man with so many interests: an entrepreneur, a man of agriculture and chemistry, a hockey player, a golfer, a scuba diver, a musician, a painter, a pilot and a lover of old trucks and cars to name a few. He had many close friends and family and was known for his sense of humor and ability to socialize with anyone and everyone.
