Mrs. Margaret Annabella Palmer (nee Erickson) of Red Deer, Alberta, formerly of Corning, Saskatchewan, passed away at Red Deer, Alberta on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 at the age of 81 years. Margaret was born in Ceylon, Saskatchewan on October 13, 1942. She was raised in the Brooking, Saskatchewan area on her parents’ family farm. She attended school at Coral Elementary School and then Khedive High School. Margaret attended Regina Teacher’s College completing her certification in 1967. She first began teaching in Mancoun, and then Kipling, Windthorst and Glenavon School until 1990. Margaret then worked as Dairymaid for many years after teaching. Margaret was a member of the Corning Golden Circle and Bemersyde Homemaker Club, and was present at any activity involving social gatherings, dances or helping children. Margaret’s battle with Huntington’s Disease did not stop her from being independent for as many years as possible. She was always going out to the mall, the Golden Circle or a family supper with whichever son, daughter or friend that was passing through Red Deer. Margaret loved Scrabble, Crossword Puzzles, Crib and listening to music. She spent as much time as she could with Erica, Chase and Nolan. These kids were always the ones to get a smile or a chuckle when they came around. Margaret will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Ryan Palmer of Red Deer, Alberta, Eric Palmer of Surrey, British Columbia, and Kelly Palmer of Red Deer, Alberta, her daughter, Sharlene (Reg) Psiurski of Red Deer, Alberta and her three grandchildren, Erica, Chase and Nolan. She will also be sadly missed by her sister, Janette Palmer of Regina, Saskatchewan. Margaret was predeceased by her husband, Allan Palmer, her parents, Ed and Pheobe Erickson, her sisters, Dianne Adacsi and Maxine Pollock, her niece, Corry and her nephew, Lane. A Public Viewing will be held at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 – 67A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer, Alberta on Monday, May 13, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. Interment will take place at the Graytown Cemetery, Golden West No. 95, Corning, Saskatchewan on Friday, June 21, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. A gathering and lunch will follow at the Corning Memorial Hall, First Avenue, Corning, Saskatchewan with Monica Dayman Officiating.
