It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Louise Jacobsen. Louise Ella was born January 6, 1942, in High River, Alberta, to Clifford and Naomi Herbig (both deceased). She passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, at the age of 84.
Louise is survived by her husband of 65 years, Nels Jacobsen; her children, Lisa Parsons (son Nikko) and Ryan Jacobsen; her sister, Muriel Hoover; her nieces and nephews on the Herbig side, Scott Hoover (wife Lori), Nicola Hoover (children Zachary and Maya Sadorra), and Jodi Scarlett (husband Neil Fawcett, daughter Krysta Fawcett). She was predeceased by her parents; her sister Bobbi Scarlett; her brother in law Don Hoover; and her son in law Dan Parsons.
Louise attended school in Olds. Nels was her high school sweetheart and they married in 1961. She later attended the University of Calgary and completed a degree in education. Louise taught Grade 1 for several years before later working at Maybank IDA in Olds, where she sold cosmetics for more than 25 years. She had a natural talent for sales and especially loved skincare products. She took pride in caring for her own skin, which remained beautiful throughout her life.
Louise and Nels enjoyed camping, visiting garage sales, and searching for treasures together. They loved playing cards with friends and family and played cribbage together almost every day.
In later years, Nels cared for Louise at home for as long as possible. When she later moved to Innisfail Sunset Manor and then Olds Seasons Encore, he continued to visit her frequently. Their daughter Lisa and her son Nikko were a constant source of support to both Louise and Nels. Lisa was closely involved in her mother’s care, visiting often, calling daily, and helping ensure that both of her parents had everything they needed. She and Nikko shared many special moments with Louise, including celebrating holidays together no matter the destination.
A celebration of life was held at the Mountain View Retirement Lodge, 5230 – 50 Street, Olds, Alberta on Friday, March 20, 2026 between the hours of 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
