1942 ~ Jan Harry Beuker ~ 2023 "As Dad would say ……..THE END."
Posted May 6, 2023 | 9:08 AM
It is with great sorrow that the family announces the passing of Jan Harry Beuker, often known as Harry or Mr. B. Harry passed away peacefully at the Innisfail Health Centre, Innisfail, Alberta, in the early morning of Monday, April 24, 2023, with his family by his side, at the age of 81 years.
Harry was born in Almelo, Netherlands on March 22, 1942 and immigrated to Canada after WWII.
He met the love of his life, Mary Ann, in Regina, Saskatchewan while he was in training at depot. It was apparent they were meant to be and were married in November of 1964.
After Harry and Mary Ann were married, they moved to Banff, Alberta where they had their son, Lorne and they welcomed their daughter, Lynn, four years later while stationed in Hanna, Alberta. In true RCMP tradition they relocated every three to four years where Innisfail, Alberta finally became home. Harry was the Innisfail Freeway Patrol Commander/Sgt. for ten years until retirement. He was a proud member of the RCMP for thirty years.
After his retirement he continued his role in law enforcement as the Community Peace Officer part-time for fifteen years with the Town of Innisfail until he “officially” retired. Harry was also an executive member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #104.
Harry and Mary Ann enjoyed spending time with Mary Ann’s sister, Betty Ann and husband Bob; they cherished their time together and spent many hours enjoying Rough Rider games, along with weekly phone calls, and looked forward to their visits.
Harry was well known in the community for his quick wit and sense of humor. He made his regular stops in town at several special locations trying to share a joke or two with the staff. They always looked forward to his visits. The last couple of years he could be seen cruising around town on his silver scooter, with all the bells and whistles.
With many health issues over the years, he was very grateful for all the moments he spent with family and friends and kept himself busy with his woodworking.
Harry will be lovingly remembered by his two children, Lorne (Karen) Beuker of Innisfail, Alberta, and Lynn (Jeff) Simpson of Bowden, Alberta, his three grandchildren, Chase, and Kole, and Paige Beuker of Whitecourt, Alberta. He will also be deeply missed by his sisters, Janet (Tom), Trieneka (Moe) of Ontario, his brother, Gary of Calgary, Alberta, his brother-in-law, Bob, and sister-in-law Betty Ann of British Columbia, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Harry was predeceased by his wife, Mary Ann, his mother, Tryn Beuker and father, Henk Beuker, his sister-in-law, Shirley, and nephew, Robbie, as well as his brother-in-law, Jim, and sister-in-law, Lorraine.
In keeping with Harry’s wishes, a Funeral Service will not be held. A Private Graveside Service for his immediate family will be held at a later date at the Innisfail Cemetery, Innisfail, Alberta. If desired, Memorial Donations in Harry’s honor may be made to S.T.A.R.S at www.stars.ca or to a Charity of the Donor’s Choice.
As Dad would say ……..THE END.
