1942 – 2025
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of David ‘Dave’ Gerald Potts, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 at the Red Deer Hospital at the age of 82 years. Dave was born on August 19, 1942 in Wayne, Alberta. He devoted much of his life to Public Service, building a long and respected career with Alberta Highways before continuing his work in the Private Sector. Known for his quiet strength, sharp wit, and deep sense of loyalty, Dave made a lasting impact on his colleagues, friends, and community. He will be lovingly remembered by his three children, Stephen, Brian, and Patricia; five grandchildren Derek, Amanda, Alicia, Olivia, and Annabelle; and a great grandson, Luke. Dave also leaves behind his faithful dog, Jack, who brought him years of companionship. Jack will now reside with Stephen and his family. In accordance with Dave’s wishes, there will be no service. His ashes will be placed with family in Southeastern Alberta, returning him to the land he loved. Dave will be remembered for his steady presence, his devotion to his family, and his enduring connection to the province he called home. He will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages quiet acts of kindness in Dave’s memory. Cremation entrusted to Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta.
