Mrs. LaVane Audrey Cowie of Red Deer, Alberta passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Friday, March 29, 2024 at the age of 83 years. LaVane was born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan on March 22, 1941, and spent most of her life in Southern Alberta, before moving to Red Deer. LaVane was very kind and had such a gentle compassion for others. She spent time teaching adults to read and was always volunteering in her community. She enjoyed painting and crocheting; she was famous for her knitting, and she shared her love and gifts of art and music freely. She had a wonderful sense of humor. LaVane was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Her family was very important to her. LaVane will be lovingly remembered by her son, Barry (Brenda) Cowie of Red Deer, and her daughter, Carole Cowie (Peter Saville) of Benalto, Alberta; her grandchildren, Vanessa Smith, Denay (Adrian) Oliver, Kimberly (Jeff) Reder, Nichole (Graham) Fegan, Ben Saville, Ed Saville, and Tim Saville; and her great grandchildren, Ethan Smith, Dylan Smith, Abigail Oliver, Damian Oliver, Colten Oliver, Jarrex Reder and Aleigha Reder. LaVane was predeceased by her parents, Joy and Lorrene Biem, and her son, Kevin Cowie. A Celebration of LaVane’s Life will be held at the Bower-Kin Community Hall, 85 Boyce Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Friday, April 19, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. All are welcome to join in celebrating LaVane’s life.
