It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Ronald ‘Ron’ Francis Kramer at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at the age of 81 years. Ron passed peacefully after a short illness, with family by his side. Ron was a beloved father, grandpa, great papa, brother, uncle, great uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend. Ron was born on June 6, 1941, in Wetaskiwin, Alberta to August and Marie Kramer. He was raised in Bluffton, Alberta and then on the family farm west of Crestomere, Alberta. He attended school at Wilmot School, Crestomere High School, and Grade Twelve at Ponoka High School.
Over the years, Ron drove truck hauling propane, gravel, lumber, and water. He worked in the Northwest Territories for a few years, as a mechanics helper and other roles. In the summer months, he owned and operated his rototilling company, Kramer Rototilling, breaking land, until his retirement.
Ron loved music, dancing, and photography. He had his camera with him everywhere he went. Ron was very social and treasured his visits with family and his many friends. In his later years, while living at the Pines Lodge in Red Deer, you would often find him at Tim Hortons, McDonalds or A & W visiting with friends or popping in to say “Hi” at numerous businesses around Red Deer, of which he enjoyed their employee’s company. Ron always had a huge smile, infectious laugh and a great sense of humour, and will be deeply missed by many.
Left to cherish Ron’s memory are his daughter, Donna (Ray) Stuart, his granddaughter, Tricia (Dustin) Shanks, his great grandson, Maxwell Shanks, his grandson, Greg Stuart (Staci and Cy), his sisters, Donna Wattie, Patricia Kramer, his brother, Ted (Eileen) Kramer and numerous nephews, nieces, aunt, cousins, extended family and dear friends. Ron was predeceased by his wife, Rose (nee Smallwood) Kramer, his father, August Kramer, his mother, Marie Kramer, his brothers, Keith Kramer, Ed Kramer, his sister, Connie Shanks and his niece, Darlene Shanks.
We would like to give a special thank you to the staff at the Pines Lodge for all their care over the past years and to Dr. Conradie and the nursing staff of Units thirty-two and thirty-three for the wonderful care, support and comfort they provided Ron and his family.
A Social Gathering to honour Ron’s Life will be held at the Red Deer Cormack Armoury, 4402 – 55 Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Saturday, November 12, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
