1941 – 2025
Mr. Anthony ‘Tony’ Gordon Lawrence passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, May 12, 2025 at the age of 84 years. Born Wednesday, February 12, 1941, in Red Deer, Alberta, Tony lived at the sloughs near Pine Lake until the age of ten. By then, he and his family moved to Bar EP Ranch, east of Red Deer. Graduating from Lindsay Thurber in 1959, Tony then attended the University of Alberta but took over the family farm after his father’s passing. Tony was an avid skier and spent much of his life working at the Canyon Ski Resort as an instructor, director, and as a maintenance worker. He also coached ski racing and instructed Disabled Skiing programs. In 1990, Tony stopped farming and shortly thereafter started working at Apollo Landscaping, where he worked for approximately twenty years with Murray and Floyd Hansen. Tony will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Virginia Lawrence and their two children, Noel (Heidi) and Sarah, his brother, Tom (Joanne), his brother-in-law, Rick, his sisters-in-law, Anne, and Brenda, his grandchildren, Colby, Joshua, and Brandon, and his step-grandchildren, Ethan, and Jackson. Tony was predeceased by his father, Benjamin Lawrence on October 17, 1961, his mother, Mabel Lawrence on June 3, 1994, and his brother-in-law, Marshall Price. A Celebration of Tony’s Life was held at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 – 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer, Alberta on Friday, May 30, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. For those unable to attend in person, the service will be livestreamed at the following link: https://www.parklandfuneralhome.com/live-stream.
