It is with heavy hearts the family of Elsie Karpyshyn announces her passing after a brave fight with cancer. She joins her husband David who passed in 2023. She was an April fools baby born at Kerrobert, Saskatchewan on April 1, 1941 to John and Anne Wolokoff. She spent her formative years helping out on the farm doing chores and looking after her three brothers. She met the love of her life, David Karpyshyn and they married February 4, 1961. They moved around Saskatchewan & Alberta until settling down in Olds in 1963. Along the way they had three children Kevin, Bonita and Allan. Elsie focused on the family until they were old enough to look after themselves and then turned her attention to childcare. She started working part time at the day care and enjoyed it so much she eventually became part owner. She stayed there until retirement and along with her husband then embarked on the adventure of being retired. She and David loved to camp and if you saw David fishing, Elsie was always close by reading a book or knitting. She also gave back to the community through billeting for the Olds Grizzlies for many years. She also was part of Citizens on Patrol and later IODE. When David passed away, she eventually moved to Mountain View Seniors Lodge. While her time there was cut short, she thoroughly enjoyed her time there. The family would like to thank the staff at the Mountainview Seniors Lodge and the staff at the Foothills hospital for their kindness and compassion caring for Elsie.
Elsie is predeceased by her mom and dad (john and Ann) and her husband David. She leaves behind to mourn, her brothers Gerald, Jack and Leonard. Elsie is survived by the children Kevin (Dorothy), Bonita (Jim) and Allan (Gail). Six grandchildren Tyler (Larissa), Ashlynn (Matthew), Stephanie (Adam), Matthew, Joseph and Jack and three great grandchildren Josephine, Carson and Halle.
