It is with heavy hearts that we share the sudden passing of Cecelia ‘Mae’ Goold (nee Gallagher) at the Red Deer Regional Health Centre on Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at the age of 84 years. She was from Fredericton, New Brunswick but lived in Alberta. Over the years, Mae enjoyed speed skating, curling, bowling, golfing, knitting, cooking, pickling and baking. She was especially known for her excellent cookies and cakes! Mae loved all dogs, but especially her own fur babies who she spoiled relentlessly.
Mae is lovingly remembered by her loving husband, Ron Goold, her children, Steven (Toby) Barr, Fred (Jane) Barr, Derrick (Helen) Barr and Donna (Derek) Penney, her stepchildren, Ron (Susan) Goold and Monique (Kathy Hurst) Goold. She will also be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Heather (Josh), Jamie, Jonathon, Danielle (Scott), Andrew (Angeli), Brett, Jennifer (Chris), Emma (Bob), Alexandra (Travis), and Stephen (Brooke), her great-grandchildren, Rebecca, Natalie, Amelia, Jack, Samuel, Alexander, Bryan, and Elizabeth. As well as her immediate family, Mae will be dearly missed by her extended family – children and grandchildren of her daughters-in-law, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her parents, Ottie and Vera Gallagher (nee Morehouse), her sister, Marie (Fred) Merrithew, and most recently her brother, Dale (Marlina) Gallagher. We wish to thank Naomi from home care for all the time she has spent supporting and caring for and about Mae. Further, the staff at Red Deer Regional Health Centre were such an incredible and thoughtful group of people in her final hours. In keeping with Mae’s wishes a Funeral Service will not be held. If desired, Memorial Donations in Mae’s honor may be made to Parkinsons Canada at www.parkinson.ca or to the Humane Society at cahumane.com.
