Nicholas James ‘Nick’ Kennedy Sr. passed away peacefully, with family by his side, on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 at the age of 83 years. Nick was born on January 30, 1940 in Belle Island, Newfoundland, the second of nine children. He enjoyed a life long career working with people with Mental Illness. Nick’s passion, however, was playing and watching hockey. In his later years, he also enjoyed golf. Nick will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Norma, his children, Kathy (Bruce), Nick (Jennifer), Blair (Angela), Paul (Lisa), Randy (Kelly), and Rick (Keith), his stepchildren, Lori (Sean), Tammy, and Landon (John), his twenty-one grandchildren, and his fourteen great grandchildren. He will also be sadly missed by his brother, Sidney, and his sisters, Helen, Alice, and Leonie. Nick was predeceased by his first wife, Marguerite, his parents, Rudolph and Rita, his stepmother, Genevieve, his brothers, Bill, Eugene, and Rudy, and his sister, Betty Lou. A Celebration of Nick’s Life was held at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 – 67A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer, Alberta on Monday, August 14, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. It is requested that casual attire be worn by guests.
