Mrs. Marion Louise Trautman (nee Murray) of Red Deer, Alberta passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital, Red Deer, Alberta on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at the age of 84 years.
Marion was born on August 18, 1940 to Mary and Robert Murray at their farmhouse near Outlook, Saskatchewan. Marion grew up and attended school in the district of Drennan with her three siblings, Bruce, Gerald, and Marg, in the one room schoolhouse. After school Marion joined the Air Force. Once she completed her time in the Air Force, Marion moved back to Outlook where she met the love of her life, Carl Trautman, who was working as a carpenter and boarding at Marion’s Granny’s residence. Marion followed her passion of creativity and attended Marvel Beauty School in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Carl and Marion were married on July 3, 1963. They moved into their first home in Red Deer, Alberta that Carl helped to build. On March 9, 1972 they welcomed their son, Terrill. A short time later on November 17, 1973 their daughter, Tonja, was born and completed their family.
Marion had many talents; she was an accomplished seamstress. She loved all aspects of creativity, tapestries, knitting, embroidery, experimenting with all types of mediums. Her expertise extended to baking, where she loved to create many types of pastries for all to enjoy. As her children grew, Carl and Marion loved to cheer their kids on from the stands.
Carl took a van and “custom camperized” it so that the family could enjoy camping, visiting family back in Saskatchewan, and trips down to B.C. and the U.S. Marion frequently would speak of the great laughs that they would share with their neighbors from the Morrisroe area. Marion had a special bond with her sister, Marg, and their families. They took special pride in watching the kids all grow up together.
In 1996 their first grandchild, Kayla, was born, soon to follow was Sienna, Jordyn, Dillan and Natalie.
As Marion transitioned into the Lodge that she lived in the last few years, it was always commented on what a kind and gentle spirit she had. Throughout her life Marion would always think of others and would take the time to do special things for those around her.
Marion will be lovingly remembered by her children, Terrill (Dawna), and her daughter, Tonja, her five grandchildren, Kayla, Sienna, Jordyn, Dillan and Natalie, her brother, Gerald (Pearl), her brother-in-law, Dean, and her sister-in-law, Audrey, as well as many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly. Marion was predeceased by her husband, Carl in 2008, her sister, Marg in 2021, and her brother, Bruce in 2022.
