Ilene Anna Goldbeck (nee Malcolm) passed away suddenly at the Michener Extendicare, Red Deer, Alberta, on Wednesday, August 19, 2026 at the age of 85 years. Ilene was born on August 25, 1940, in Innisfail, Alberta to George and Irene (nee Isaacson) Malcolm. Ilene grew up on a farm east of Innisfail. She attended high school in Red Deer where she met Ernest ‘Ernie’ Goldbeck, her life partner and co-conspirator in their passion for horses. She had a long career in banking and enjoyed living in the country, growing her own food: chickens, eggs, and garden. Ilene was wildly popular at Michener Extendicare where she enjoyed playing crib, bingo and being the only resident with a racehorse! The family thanks the staff and residents of Michener Extendicare for giving Mom a community for the last couple years. Ilene will be lovingly remembered by her children, Shelley Goldbeck, April (Al) Stevenson and Terry (Karen) Goldbeck; seven grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She will also be sadly missed by her sisters, Enid Hermary and Sandy (Jim) Betts; as well as numerous extended family members and dear friends. Ilene was predeceased by her parents; an infant brother; a great granddaughter; her husband, Ernie (in 2024); and her big sister, Elsie (in 2025).
