God called Frank home on Friday, November 11, 2022, after a short battle with cancer, at the age of 82. Frank is
lovingly remembered by his wife, Ann, and children Laurie (Doug) Smithies, Ron (Christina) Hunt, Janet
(Michael) Mahoney, Grandchildren; Troy (Tasha), Amber (Jordan), Shivaun (Greg), Dana, Cody (Mark),
Christopher; Great-Grandchildren; Tyler, Thomas, Logan, Alexandrea, Abigail, Annabel, Makaela,
Mitchell, Malcom, Cherish and Tanner. He is survived by his sisters Dorothy Devlin, Lorraine Durrer, Ann
Marie (Bob) Doerr; his brothers Don (Shirley) Hunt and Larry (Barb) Hunt. He is pre-deceased by his son
Jeff, his parents Edgar and Marie, sister Bunny and brothers Raymond and Jerry.
Frank was born in Carlsruhe, Ontario and migrated west at the age of 16, deciding to call Alberta home.
Frank lived in multiple small communities leaving his mark in each community, finally deciding Sundre,
was home in 1988 with his loving wife Ann. Frank loved to spend time with family and friends. Frank
was always ready to give a helping hand, whether it be plowing snow, cutting grass for the neighbors, or
doing small tasks in the community. Frank had a creative gift combined with the innovation to create
many wonderful works of art. Many of these remain on display throughout the community today.
He had a passion for golf and loved his coffee with his buddies. Frank ran a welding business in
Sundre for over 30 years and will be dearly missed by all.
His service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church in Sundre on Friday, November 18, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. Lunch to
follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Sundre Palliative Care Association.
